On Saturday, 25th of July 2026, a violent attack took place on the sideline of the Berlin Christopher Street Day, leading to one death and many people being injured.
We at OII Europe are deeply shocked and utterly saddened. Our hearts reach out to all the direct victims of the attack and their families. We also mourn the impact that such attacks have on all LGBTIQ+ people, their families and loved ones and friends. Not feeling safe because of who you are and because of how hatred wants to erase you, is a burden, that weighs heavily.
This is why we condemn hate in all its forms, regardless of wether it is expressed and acted upon against LGBTIQ+ people, against people with diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, or anyone else who, in the minds of some, are not deemed worthy of living. We stand in solidarity with all our friends!
